IT/GIS Department Home

Our Mission

The Noble County IT/GIS Department reports to the County Commissioners and is located on the 4th floor of the Noble County Courthouse in Albion, IN. We are responsible for the procurement, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of all computing and network facilities in use by Noble County government employees. We work with outside vendors as needed. We also maintain and enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS), a repository of map-based information used by many government agencies and outside parties.

Scope of Operations

The IT/GIS Department maintains approximately 30 servers and more than 150 workstations used by county employees in 20 different offices. We provide front-line technical support for specialized applications in use by each of the county departments. We also support standard desktop applications (word processing, email, printing) and maintain connectivity between the diverse computer networks in use by Noble County government. We handle purchasing, maintenance, and configuration for all of the computer equipment in eight different county facilities. We design and maintain the networks that link the offices and outside agencies together, providing a seamless means of communicating between local government staff and the public.
